Greetings, and a Merry Christmas!
Wow, it's two years ago that we were neck deep in creating Fractured Universe for the 90 day MMO game contest...
The decision to make my own game engine to use instead of using Torque has been a good one. The game engine is now complete and is looking fantastic, inside and out.
I'm finished with the new and improved NPC Dialogs / Quest system and all I need to do is finish up the zone and character services and hook it all together.
On the art front, I'm in the process of creating a new art pipeline for creating tile-based objects. Developer created zones will be a combination of tile based and free-form, but players can customize buildings, cities, etc using the tile-based system.
The game client is done other than it needs a bit of polishing and I need to decide on the GUI style I'll be using for FracU.... I'll possibly use the original red and black scheme we had originally intended on using, but we'll see...
I'm taking a more relaxed approach on development this time... no crazy 90 day deadlines... but I do hope to have an early alpha version using the new game engine available in the next three to four months.
I'll try to start making more regular updates.... so for now, Merry Christmas. |
